As a fellow Real Estate Agent, our days get crazy. Some days we can plan everything and no matter how much we plan, we just can’t control what happens. One or two phone calls and our whole day changes.
Have you ever been within a day of closing one property and you were out showing properties to another client and all the sudden there is a HUGE fire that you need to put out and the only way they notify you is an email? If you did not have access to email, that email could cost you the closing, making the buyer VERY unhappy, the seller irate and you unpaid.
With so much going on, how can we stay ahead in a world that seems to move faster and faster? The key is to being real-time. Today, 1 hour is like 1 week. The sooner you can get information the sooner you can take of issues that arise. In the fast paced world of real estate – not being available could mean losing out on an important contract, missing a listing or worse yet losing a client to a competitor.
Here are a few 5 tips on how to stay ahead with you BlackBerry:
1. Make sure ALL your email addresses are in your BlackBerry. If you are like me, I have 2-3 different email addresses. Make sure you have all of them being received from your BlackBerry. This way which ever email address Mr. Important tries to contact you on – you can get to.
2. If you are in a meeting and you put your phone on vibrate, make it a habit to check your phone after each meeting to assure you have not missed an important call.
3. Have your key contacts (numbers and emails) in your Address Book. For example: Lenders, Closing agents, Title Agents, Appraiser, Survey Companies, etc. Anyone with whom you might need to call while you are away from your office.
TIP: Consider scanning their business cards – there are some great applications that will do this for you. A HUGE time saver.
4. Have important documents on you phone. The Documents on the Go application allows you to edit and create documents. This comes in handy if you need to alter a document and send it back.
TIP: Consider an application that lets you send any documents to your BlackBerry from your PC. There is even an application that will let you remotely print documents from your BlackBerry.
5. Set up a Profile IMPORTANT PEOPLE that will notify you even if you have your phone on vibrate. This will allow this call to NEVER be missed. Anytime you are actively working with an important client, change their profile to the IMPORTANT PEOPLE profile and never miss their call again.
These 5 tips can make working with your BlackBerry more efficient, help you make more and help you stay ahead.
